Autofill Activity

The Autofill activity copies the formula or content of a source row or column into an adjacent range, automatically adjusting cell references as needed. This eliminates the need for a Script Task when a formula must be extended across an entire row or column.

Field Description Requirement
Excel name The reference name of the Excel file, which must already be open or created, is selected from a dropdown. Required
Sheet name The name of the Excel sheet to work within. If not specified, the activity defaults to the first sheet. Optional
Sheet index The index of the Excel sheet to work within. If not specified, the activity defaults to the first sheet. Optional
Source rows The row or row range containing the source formula or content to copy from. Optional
Source columns The column or column range containing the source formula or content to copy from. Optional
Rows The row or row range to fill with the source content. Optional
Columns The column or column range to fill with the source content. Optional
Adjust references? A boolean option to automatically adjust relative cell references in the copied formula for each new row or column. Optional

Action Types & Examples

Row Autofill

  • Format: string
  • Example Result: Source row 1 filled down to row 9.

Column Autofill

  • Format: string
  • Example Result: Source column C filled across to column F.

Implementation Examples

Field Setup - Excel name: ${newExcel} - Sheet name: Sheet1 - Source rows: 1 - Rows: 2:9 - Adjust references?: true

Execution Parameters - Sheet index: 1 - Source columns: C - Columns: D:F

Technical Notes

When Adjust references? is enabled, relative references within the source formula (e.g., A1) shift to match each filled row or column, mirroring the behavior of dragging Excel's fill handle. Disable this option to repeat the exact same formula in every target cell.
