Get Size Activity

The Get Size activity retrieves size-related information about a worksheet, such as its row or column count, and stores the result in a variable for use in subsequent workflow steps. It mirrors the Get Size activity available in the standard Excel component.

Field Description Requirement
Excel name The reference name of the Excel file, which must already be open or created, is selected from a dropdown. Required
Sheet name The name of the Excel sheet to work within. If not specified, the activity defaults to the first sheet. Optional
Size type The specific dimension to retrieve (e.g., row count or column count). Required
Result variable name The name of the variable where the retrieved size value will be stored. Required

Action Types & Examples

Row Count

  • Format: integer
  • Example Result: 120

Column Count

  • Format: integer
  • Example Result: 8

Implementation Examples

Field Setup - Excel name: ${newExcel} - Sheet name: Sheet1 - Size type: RowCount - Result variable name: rowCount

Technical Notes

Unlike the standard Excel component, MS Excel identifies the target sheet only by name — there is no Sheet index field. If Sheet name is left blank, the activity reports the size of the first sheet in the workbook.
