Is Window Exists Activity

The Is Window Exists activity checks whether a specific window currently exists within a native Windows desktop application, and stores the result as a boolean value for use in conditional logic.

Field Description Requirement
Application instance The reference name of the application instance previously opened or attached. Required
Element The JSON-based selector identifying the target window. Required
Label An alternative to Element that identifies the target window by label instead of a selector. Optional
Label match type Defines how Label is compared against candidate windows (e.g., Equals, Contains). Optional
Retry count The number of times the activity will retry the check before returning false. Optional
Result variable name The name of the variable where the boolean result will be stored. Required

Action Types & Examples

Window Exists Check

  • Format: boolean
  • Example Result: false

Implementation Examples

Field Setup - Application instance: ${appInstance} - Element: the target window identified by the UI Automation Inspector - Result variable name: windowExistsResult

Execution Parameters - Retry count: 3

Technical Notes

Label and Label match type provide an alternative to Element for identifying the target window, useful when a stable selector is not available. Increasing Retry count helps avoid false negatives when a window has not fully rendered yet at the moment of the check.
